Fairfield Resorts Acquires Franklin Printing Building in New Orleans, Unveils Plans for Urban Timeshare Project Press
Release: Fairfield Resorts January 14, 2005 ORLANDO, FL -- Fairfield Resorts, Inc., the largest vacation ownership company in the world with more than 450,000 owner families, yesterday announced that the company has acquired the Franklin Printing building adjacent to the French Quarter in downtown New Orleans, with plans to convert the former industrial complex into a 119-unit timeshare resort.
The new resort, to be called Fairfield New Orleans at La Belle Maison, marks
Fairfield's second timeshare project in the Crescent City. The project
will feature a combination of studio, one-, and two-bedroom units, as well as 12
luxuriously appointed presidential suites. Each condominium-style unit
will feature a fully-equipped kitchen, living room, 32" television with DVD
player and more. With construction and renovation expected to begin in early
2005, Fairfield plans to open the resort in the fall of 2006.
"New Orleans is a unique vacation destination that will offer a
truly distinctive experience for our owners," said Franz S. Hanning, president
and CEO, Fairfield Resorts. "From the history to the culture, the
entertainment and dining, there's so much to see and do in New Orleans – and
this resort will be right in the heart of it.
I'm excited that
Fairfield owners will be able to enjoy this great new addition to our growing
resort portfolio."
Built in the early 1900s for the Franklin
Printing Company, the original building had remained in use as a printing plant
and storage facility for nearly a century. Plans now call for the site to
be expanded by three additional stories, with the structure's exterior being
preserved to maintain the rich architectural style and history of New Orleans'
warehouse district. The centerpiece of Fairfield New Orleans at La Belle
Maison will be an eight-story, skylight-adorned atrium with wrought iron
railings, featuring balconies on all four sides leading guests to their
rooms. Resort amenities will include a dipping pool, indoor whirlpool spa,
exercise and tanning rooms, sauna and massage.
